Upon hearing of the presence of a warp rift on Malachor 3, Senior Librarian Aegisthus moved his 3rd Panther Battlegroup (roughly 250 marines) to investigate the rift. Noting of the dangers of Inquisitorial attention, he labeled his battlegroup Task Force Libero Incursio with the official mission of liberating the planet from the taint.
